HIV- Human immune deficiency virus is a virus that targets our body’s immune system, and is spread through the contact with body fluids. HIV can lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), which can be considered as the third and final stage of an HIV infection which ultimately results into severe damage to the immune system. When our immune system fails to manage our immunity which may lead to the invitation of various infections.
Unfortunately, the condition called HIV and AIDS have many misconceptions associated that can cause significant amount of fear, worry, and shame on an individual’s mind. It's important to work on how to remove the fear and shame about getting tested for HIV or any other kind of sexually transmitted disease.
HIV symptoms can be slow to appear or may not appear at all because there are 3 stages of HIV. The first stage includes initial virus symptoms like fever and fatigue that resemble the flu. Some people, however, may not experience these symptoms, or may only experience a mild version of them. The second stage often lacks symptoms, and can last for years. AIDS is the third stage, and often the symptoms that people correlate with HIV are actually, symptoms that result from having an AIDS-compromised immune system.
